Wanda Kight, though originally from Los Angeles, has lived in Atlanta, GA for over twenty years.
Wanda has a screenwriter for a number of years, and is working on her seventh screenplay. She was a finalist in the Urban MediaMakers Film Festival in Atlanta several years ago with a screenplay titled “Shotgun”. Writing has been a personal joy for years, but she decided recently to turn pro. Wanda is also a professional copywriter, web content author, and a professional business writer specializing in business brochures and direct mail letters.
Wanda publishes a blog and several web sites. She has a Bachelor of Arts from Stanford University, and received her M.B.A. from the University of Southern California. Her pre-writing professional work experience has been in banking, economic development, pharmaceutical sales and finance.
Like a lot of screenwriters, Wanda loves the movies, especially the classics like the original Cape Fear, West Side Story, and Shawshank Redemption. Her favorite genre is the psychological thriller, and that’s what she writes. Her latest screenplay, entitled “Delusional,” and a scene from it, is posted at http://YouTube.com/dawn0824.
Wanda is a firm believer in writing every day, taking courses, and having work critiqued by working screenwriters. The path to success includes reading scripts, networking, watching movies, reading lots of books and magazines and committing to becoming a better writer. A writer must also know the best time to write for creative and mental energy to peak.
Wanda’s words of advice to emerging screenwriters: the road to becoming a paid screenwriter is a marathon and not a sprint.
Wanda offers screenwriters encouragement and support as they continue this amazing, but challenging journey.
