The 2016 ASA Emerging Screenwriter's Contest!


Are you ready for the big time? Find out by entering the American Screenwriters Association 2016 Emerging Screenwriter Contest. For about the cost of a cheap dinner out, you can help kick start your writing career and finally find out if you have what it takes to become a Hollywood screenwriter.


This is a breakout opportunity for emerging screenwriters to gain recognition for their screenplay concepts. While most screenplay contests focus solely on the writing, the 2016 ASA Emerging Screenwriter's contest looks at several key aspects:

  1. Originality (35%)
    Is your idea new, fresh, or unique?
  2. Clarity (25%)
    How clear is your story/plot?
  3. Timeliness (15%)
    How well does you screenplay subject meet current demand?
  4. Format (15%)
    How well does your writing follow the rules?
  5. Writing Quality (10%)
    Do you have what it takes to write for the screen?

There will be 3 winners selected by scoring on the 5 categories above.


1ST PLACE: Professional Script Coverage, VIP Pitch Package, and Management Consideration worth over $600
The first place winner will receive a personalized Coverage Ink "Jim Cirile" script analysis (a $399 value), including in-depth feedback with analysis (generally 10-15 pages of comments) along with a frank assessment of your script's marketability and TONS of thoughtful suggestions. Jim is an internationally renowned Screenwriting columnist for Script and Creative Screenwriting magazines, and founder of Coverage Ink. He has helped many emerging screenwriters sell their scripts to Disney and others. In addition, the winner will receive a free entry in the spring CI Get Repped Now and win a chance to be considered for management deals from such industry leaders as UTA and Benderspink. (A $129 Value). Winner also receives a VIP Pitch package (a$90 value) from Virtual Pitchfest, where every query to producers are guaranteed consideration and a response! Finally, the winner will be featured in an ASA Special Report in a summer edition of ASA Insider newsletter.

2nd and 3rd PLACE:
The second and third place winners will receive a script summary analysis identifying overall strengths and weaknesses of your script, plus current marketability (a $129 value).

All winners will receive a special winner's acknowledgment and bio article in a summer ASA INSIDERS newsletter, and on the ASA Website.

PLUS: 2 lucky winners selected randomly from all entries will receive a FREE updated version of Final Draft, the industry leading screenwriting software.
